Dub Tourny 2007Dublin, Ireland (a little city east of Ballybinge)so....we went to dub tourney. Along with the help of Rickard, Podge, Heather and Mairead who had not previously played binge... The tournament was a reasonably small scale affair, resulting in an even more relaxed feel than previous years. Despite being quite competitive in all but 1 game, we only managed the 1 victory against a shapes team suffering from severe old age. Result: 6th of 8 |

Jestival 2007Leicester, EnglandOn the 8th of june The Binge and Co. took yet another crappy ryanair flight over to Leicester. Thankfully the flight lasted only 30 Mickey Finn fuelled minutes (us, not the plane) and we all survived. as far as the games went, we won, we won, we won, we had a mack line instead of a game and still won, we won, we won, we were in the final, we started playing in the second half and lost... Result: 2nd of 16 |

Yes BUT Nau 2007Le Pouliguen, FranceYes BUT Nau was, as ever, a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we did not have as strong a team as last year and we lost the majority of our games. Still, it was fun and if we get back in next year, we will definitely improve on our result! Result: 23rd of 24 |

Paganello 2007 (mixed division)Rimini, ItalyPaganello was awesome to the max. The Binge partied old school and impressed everybody with their chain gang antics on the Saturday night. The final standing was 19th out of 24 in the mixed division after an initial seeding of 22nd. The division was won by Huck Finn, who beat Lick My Love Pump in the final. Binge MSP was Dave, MVP was Francesca and A-game went to Jónall (Jo and Dónall). Result: 19th of 24 |

New Year's Ultimate Resolution 2006Newcastle, EnglandBored of spending new year's always in the same way, a few of us decided to do something different and spend it doing what we're best at: partying and playing ultimate. Helped out by a couple of pickups we headed to Newcastle to experience the local nightlife and weird accent and play some warm indoor ultimate. A relaxed tournament with some fun parties where the Binge didn't disappoint and rocked the dancefloor. Result: 5th out of 12 |

Burla Beach Cup 2006 (open)Viareggio, ItalyThe Binge returns to Italy, one year wiser. Significant restructuring resulted in a much stronger team capable of a higher level of ultimate, but the Binge came to party. However, the campsite didn't agree and, after some intial teething problems, the Bingers found a way to party without disturbing the rest of the campsite. The secret? Party elsewhere. The previous year's antics resulted in the Binge being forced to play in the newly formed 3rd division. Unfortunately, the Binge was of a higher standard than the majority of the other teams and cruised into a fourth place finish. The top four finishers in the second and third division get promoted. 2nd Division Burla 2007, here we come! Result: 4th of 24 (Division 3) |

Grenoble 2006Grenoble, FranceOne of our number (Clíodhna) decided to move to Grenoble for the year. The Binge decided to follow her. They also decided to bring a superteam and they invited some super pickups to accomplish this. This Weblord Extraordinaire was not in attendance (I'm not super enough... and I couldn't get off work) and so I can't really say anything about it. Hope Fully one of the attendees will supply this bit. Result: 5th of 20 |

Jestival 2006 (Co-ed??)Leicester, EnglandAdriano invited us to his uni team's (Leicester Jesters) first organisational experience. It was a fun tournament with some whacky rules and a pitch-side bouncy castle (eventually). The Binge were hosted by Adriano and his flatmates (apologies to the flatmates) and a lot of partying was done by all. The theme for the weekend was "The World Cup" and the Binge were assigned the glorious nation of Japan. As a result, it is popularly believed that the Binge did not attend the Saturday night party but they were, in fact, there. Dressed as ninjas. Which explans that... The final was contested by the Binge sporting Kamikaze-style headbands after an intense warm-up session involving beer and accusations of racking disciprine. Despite this, the greatly superior Thundercats displayed their superiority by kicking our asses. To add insult to injury, they decided to hospitalise one of our better players. Result: 2nd of 12 and still no trophy! |

Yes but Nau 2006 (Open)Le Pouliguen, FranceWe heard about this tournament from ESIS and we decided to go over and check out what all the fuss was about. This was an intensely fun tournament from start to finish. The tournament was well organised and the standard of ultimate was high. As usual, the Binge did a bit of messing around on the first day, then lost a couple of games due to hungoverness. However, some strong open teams were beaten as well. Result: 23rd of 28 |

Dub Tournae 2006 (Co-ed)Dublin, IrelandThis was the Binge's first experience of the increasingly legendary Dublin tournament. It was an excellent tournament from start to finish. Definitely the most fun and certainy the best organised incarnation of the Dublin tournament so far (in my admittedly limited experience of dub tourneys)! As it was the 10th Anniversary of the event, all teams were professionally photographed in a wedding sort of formation (see right). On the ultimate side of things, the range of standard was pretty big. We lost to Accrington Stanley, Mixed Veg and Throwing Shapes, which was expected really. We also won a few games and we beat the University pick-up team to win the plate. Result: Plate and no trophy!! |

Good Friday Agreement 2006 (Co-ed)Dublin, IrelandThe Good Friday Agreement (as Duffman insists on calling it) was a small one day tournament organised by Mark Earley the week before the Dub Tournae. It was ostensibly a warm-up for the aforementioned but it saw a good turnout, a good standard of ultimate, some hard-fought games and good spirit. The Binge placed 4th out of 8 and won the Spirit award! |

Costa Brava 2006 (Co-ed)Lloret de Mar, Girona, CatalunyaThis tournament marked a turning point for the Binge. The team was radically different to its last two incarnations (due in large part to the addition of some extra college players and a couple of Italians, as well as the help of a pick-up player, Marko) and there had been some training and a couple of friendly games. Most Bingers still conserved a partying mentality which was at once a positive thing and a hindrance. There was some unpleasantness involving a couple of bingers which saw them missing all the morning games and being expelled from the hotel. This was a wake-up call for some of the Bingers and efforts were made by many to continue partying at the same high standard without it affecting the ability of the Binge to field a team the following morning. After a poor start, the team quickly got it together and won a string of games against teams to which they had lost in the past, resulting in a plate position finish but no trophy! Result: 13th of 24 |

Sligo Wig of Shame 2006Location: Sligo, Ireland The Sligo "no skirts" wig of shame saw a very different team to the one that competed in Viareggio. This was partly due to the fact that it was an indoors tournament in Ireland and partly due to losses of team members to college teams. The Binge won the plate and successFully brought home some bling on their second tournament. |

Burla Beach Cup 2005 (Open)Viareggio, ItalyThis was the first ever Binge outing. The team had just been formed and the few training sessions organised were hampered by a lack of attendance from players. This was evident at the tournament when the team finished second last in the second division, winning only one game all weekend. The focus at this first tournament was on partying and having a good time. Ridiculous amounts of alcohol were consumed at the camp site, with many players unable to play the following sday due to mild cases of alcohol poisoning. This tournament set the party standard for future tournaments, as well as higlighting the need to improve the Ultimate side of things. Result: 31st of 32 (second division) |
