| Jestival 2008 |
| Tuesday 01st of July 2008 09:46:22 AM |
| The Binge, helped by pickups Paul and Luke, travelled once again to Leicester for the 3rd edition of Jestival. Unlike the previous years the weather this time was awful: cold and wet on saturday and horribly windy on sunday. However, despite a disappointing 8th finish, the Binge did not disappoint by partying as hard as always and winning spirit. Great weekend overall, looking forward to next year's! |

| ultimate in antarctica!!! |
| Sunday 06th of January 2008 09:26:35 PM |
| so...while I was at the world championships of beach ultimate, in brazil, my backpacking companions went to antarctica.
Many of you will know William (from italy in 2005)...i´m not sure if any of you know Vinny...and i´m pretty sure none of you know Hugo. Anyway, I left them one of my discs, so they could get a game going, and they did. Themselves and a few other passengers played a little bit of ultimate. Apparantly, a chilean army officer from the military base there accused them of killing a penguin with a disc....i´m told the penguin died of natural causes (no relation to the captain i believe). Playing with a white disc, in such a white place...naturraly my disc didn´t make it back. I wonder what the other penguins will make of it? There are photos...i´ll get Donall to put them on the site...have a look! |

| we went to this fantastic mixed tournament on the 8th and 9th of September. It was brilliant. What a brilliant tournament. its a pity that the next edition isn't until 12 months from now.
anyway...we lost the quarter final to jetset (featuring cian) by a point...6-5. great game. they're cool. someone want to make a tournament report? describe this tournaments greatness? |
| dub tourney |
| Wednesday 29th of August 2007 05:17:32 PM |
| so....we went to dub tourney. Along with the help of Rickard, Podge, Heather and Mairead who had not previously played binge...(and Pete...who might have...i don't know). The tournament was a reasonably small scale affair, resulting an even more relaxed feel than previous years.
The Binge finished 6th out of 8. Despite being quite competitive in all but 1 game, we only managed the 1 victory, against a shapes team suffering from severe old age. all in all...good fun. |

| Monday 18th of June 2007 11:29:56 PM |
| On the 8th of june The Binge and Co took yet another crappy ryanair flight over to Leicester. Thankfully the flight lasted only 30 Mickey Finn fuelled minutes (us, not the plane) and we all survived. as far as the games went, we won, we won, we won, we had a mack line instead of a game and still won, we won, we won, we were in the final, we started playing in the second half and lost... |
| Yes But Nau 2007 |
| Tuesday 05th of June 2007 11:56:49 AM |
| On the weekend of the 26th of May, The Binge attended Yes BUT Nau in Le Pouliguen, France, for the second consecutive year. It was, as ever, a very fun tournament, despite a conspicuous lack of ESIS players. Unfortunately, a less-than-full-strength team resulted in a 27th place finish (out of 28!), losing to everybody except The Monsters. Next year will no doubt see a marked increase in performance.
Special thanks to Shane and Louise for making the effort to come out and experience the Binge way of life. |
| Paganello 2007 |
| Wednesday 11th of April 2007 06:47:42 PM |
| Paganello was awesome to the max. The Binge partied old school and impressed everybody with their chain gang antics on the Saturday night. The final standing was 19th out of 24 in the mixed division after an initial seeding of 22nd. The division was won by Huck Finn, who beat Lick My Love Pump in the final. Binge MSP was Dave, MVP was Francesca and A-game went to Jónall (Jo and Dónall). |

| we went to sligo, the annual indoor tournament. it was good fun. the girls were playing with their university teams, some of the lads were away...so just 5 ironmen for the binge: col (captain), gary, duffman, drunk rob and seamus. with the energy provided by the secret CDB sports endurance drink, we went far. but not far enough, only to the semifinals. We need to do some more work on that sectret formula. we lost to the old timers disease, who won in the end. old age will always get you in the end. |
| New Year's Ultimate Resolution |
| Friday 12th of January 2007 02:24:00 PM |
So for the sake of uptodate website, the binge went to the new years mixed(ish) indoor tournament in Newcastle (on the weekend of new years - so the tournament was last year).by all accounts it was good fun for those that made the trip. (look at the forum to actually see all accounts).5th place finish, some more 1 weekend catchphrases and a double teabaging for dave seemed to be the results. Fair play. ![]() |

| Dónall is leaving |
| Monday 20th of November 2006 06:32:28 PM |
| Ladies and gentlemen of the Binge. As most of you should know by now, I've had enough of this country. I'm going to make like a hockey stick and get the puck out of here. More precisely, I'm moving to Barcelona on Monday.I wasn't going to bother organising any sort of elaborate going-away party, partly because I know none of you would show up and partly because I'll be back in three weeks for Christmas (on the 20th December, then I'm off to Arizona on the 31st and back on the 9th of January. When I return I will either go back to Barcelona or move to Scotland. Most likely Barcelona).Anyway, I will probably be going for a few beers somewhere at some stage this weekend. Either Friday or Saturday (preferably Friday). Maybe Thursday, but that's much less likely. If anybody wants to swing by and join me for a couple of brews, feel free to do so. If anybody doesn't, fuck you.Similarly, if anybody wants anything from Barcelona, feel free to shout it out. The most popular items thus far have been Absinthe and Capitán.As for the going for beers thing itself, if anybody has any suggestions for a time or place, shout it out. I have absolutely no plans.Dónall |

| Somebody posted two blank messages from this address tonight. It wasn't a big deal, just slightly annoying to those of us who got two blank e-mails. However, I realised that it's stupid to restrict access to the news posting page by simply hiding it, so it's out in the open now. It is now also protected by a simple password. Nothing fancy and it's something that most Bingers will find easy to remember, but it will prevent malicious meddling from outside the club (but not inside the club... I presume tonight's messages were from some inquisitive person who discovered the URL of the page). |
| Binge Vs. UCD |
| Saturday 18th of November 2006 07:22:05 PM |
| Well. I said I would write about this and so here it is. We played Chilli-O last night in UCD on the "I can't believe it's not grass" pitch. Most of you should already know that much. In attendance for the Binge side of things were (in order of appearance) Séamus, QED, Perfect Dave, me (Dónall), Blonde, Pixie, Pete and Shiv. I can't remember who all was there for UCD. The usual bunch, minus a few experienced players and plus some beginners. The weather was nothing short of awful. It was freezing and incredibly windy so zone was the order of the day. It was a good game in which we practised our transition zone and remembered not to throw floaty hucks when Haggis is on the pitch. I'm not going to go into any particular detail on the gameplay itself, except to say that it was enjoyable, despite the weather. We won. The final result according to Séamus was "a good score" to "a middling score". The Hag was more specific and I think he called it 11-7. I certainly hope that's what he called because I just registered with the ladder league and submitted that score.Which reminds me, I registered with the ladder league. I said we were a fun-loving team from a small town called Ballybinge. As a result, I don't think we appear on the map. I listed our postcode as D9 because we generally train in Albert Park, but I don't think it makes a difference. And that's pretty much that. We have now beaten two Irish university teams in friendlies. I say we go for the whole set.-Dónall |
| Hello from the CDB web site! |
| Thursday 16th of November 2006 10:00:56 PM |
| Good evening all. This is Dónall. It says it's from slayer, but that's because the binge site is hosted on Micheal's webspace.Anyways, I've just finished making a script for submitting news to the web site. As you might have noticed by now, it also sends a copy to your inbox. Cool, isn't it?? Because of this, the news submission page is a secret. Nobody knows where it is except me and I haven't yet decided who I'm going to give the URL to. It's dangerous to let too many people have it, you see, because of the obvious spamming opportunities. I don't expect that spamming will be any more of an issue than it is on any other mailing list, but if it starts to happen, I can always remove this script. It has ocurred to me that some of you might not be happy with this state of affairs. You might not want to recieve e-mail updates of club news or you might not want them sent to this address. If either of these statements matches your experience, please let me know. Mail me at the address listed above (in the "to:" section. The donallmc address). Do NOT reply to this e-mail. I don't think anybody checks it... Alternatively, post to the forum. That's it. Apologies for the lengthyness. Peace out (he said doing his celebrated african-american impression) Dónall |
| News page updated |
| Thursday 16th of November 2006 08:56:54 PM |
| I have updated the news page. It should now display news articles dynamically. There is very little security on this thing and I don\'t want to have to enforce a password system, so everybody please behave yourselves. -Dónall |

| Thursday 16th of November 2006 08:55:37 PM |
| I have finished coding a news submitter and it works, essentially. It needs to be fine tuned a little, but that will happen later. As usual, report any bugs to the forum. -Dónall |
